Amman: Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al Hussein, attended the Jordan Football Association’s (JFA) celebration of its 75th anniversary. The event marked a significant milestone for the association, showcasing its journey and achievements in Jordanian football.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ceremony included a video presentation highlighting the evolution of football in Jordan from 1923 to the national team’s historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup finals. The event also emphasized the JFA’s role in formalizing and advancing the sport within the country.
A newly designed Jordanian Professional League trophy was unveiled during the ceremony, featuring engravings that reflect Jordan’s national heritage. The design was crafted by Jordanians, adding a local touch to the prestigious award. Additionally, a musical piece celebrated Jordan’s achievement in qualifying for the World Cup.
Crown Prince Al Hussein took the opportunity to honor players, coaches, influential figures, and partner institutions for their contributions to Jordanian football. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Their Royal Highnesses Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, JFA president, Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, president of the Jordan Olympic Committee, and Princess Alia bint Al Hussein, president of the Royal Jordanian Equestrian Federation, alongside His Highness Prince Mired bin Ra’ad, Chief Royal Councillor at the Royal Hashemite Court.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino and several senior officials and representatives from sports federations across Arab and friendly countries attended the celebration. In recognition of their support for football in Jordan, Prince Ali presented two commemorative shields to His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Crown Prince.
During the ceremony, the JFA also introduced its vision and strategy for the next four years, focusing on technical advancement, empowerment and growth, infrastructure, and social engagement. On the sidelines, Crown Prince Al Hussein met with FIFA President Infantino to discuss expanding sports cooperation between Jordan and FIFA.
