Contract Signed for Smart Systems in Buses Serving 6 Public Universities

Amman: The Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) has finalized a contract to supply, install, and operate intelligent transportation systems (ITS) for buses operating within the government support program. This initiative will benefit six public universities and is a significant step toward the Kingdom's goal of digital transformation.

According to Jordan News Agency, this project aims to introduce a new approach to student transportation by offering smart solutions that enhance the safety, reliability, and regularity of daily commutes. The objective is to develop a sustainable and efficient public transportation system tailored to meet users' needs while reducing travel time.

Set to begin in the third quarter of this year, the project will outfit 376 medium-sized buses on 29 university routes with advanced digital infrastructure. This includes e-payment systems using smart cards, GPS tracking, and modern surveillance cameras to boost safety measures.

The service will also provide real-time passenger information displays and a financial clearing system to ensure seamless integration and coordination of operational processes.
