‘Comprehensive’ Plan to Enhance Jordan’s Industrial Exports to Asian Markets-JEA

Amman: Chairman of the Jordan Exporters Association (JEA), Ahmad Khudari, announced that the association will intensify efforts to expand Jordan’s industrial exports into Asian markets. This initiative aims to capitalize on the momentum from His Majesty King Abdullah II’s recent tour of Southeast Asian nations.

According to Jordan News Agency, Khudari highlighted that the King’s visits to Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Indonesia marked an economic milestone, showcasing His Majesty’s dedication to supporting Jordan’s industrial sector and bolstering the presence of Jordanian products in promising markets.

Khudari commended the King’s initiatives, describing them as a crucial pillar for empowering the Kingdom’s industrial sector and improving its global competitiveness. He emphasized that the Royal vision is centered on expanding trading partners and creating economic opportunities for Jordanian investors and exporters.

The JEA has proactively engaged with relevant authorities and begun organizing participation in trade fairs in the aforementioned countries. This initiative aims to understand market dynamics and promote Jordanian products to international importers.

Khudari noted that entering these markets involves challenges, such as language barriers and product labeling, which require additional financial commitments from industrial companies. These issues were discussed during a Senate meeting, where the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Ya’rub Qudah, assured government support for companies participating in international exhibitions for the first time.

Khudari expressed optimism that successful entry into these new markets would strengthen Jordan’s industrial sector and align with His Majesty’s directives to diversify and enhance the competitiveness of the export portfolio. He reported an 8% growth in national exports and a 5% rise in re-exports since the beginning of the year.

Additionally, Khudari stressed the importance of signing new preferential customs agreements with countries such as Rwanda and Uzbekistan, which could expand Jordan’s export base and open new economic prospects. He affirmed the JEA’s commitment to working with both official and private entities to maximize the opportunities from the Royal visit and enhance the global presence of Jordanian products.

Finally, Khudari highlighted the Economic Modernization Vision as a comprehensive framework that supports the industrial sector by increasing production capacity, market expansion, and improving the business environment. This vision positions exports as a key growth driver and provides programs to access new markets and increase the value of Jordanian products.
