Amman: The Jordan Breast Cancer Program at King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center has initiated a colon cancer awareness project targeting the Aqaba, Ma'an, and Tafilah governorates, with financial backing from the Jordan Kuwait Bank.
According to Jordan News Agency, the launch ceremony took place at the Great Arab Revolt Plaza in Aqaba, attended by representatives from the foundation, the bank, multiple partners, and community members. The project aims to enhance awareness about colon cancer, promote early detection practices, and encourage the public to partake in necessary screenings to improve prevention, early detection, and treatment outcomes.
Reem Ajlouni, Director of the Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP), highlighted that colon cancer ranks as the second most common cancer but is highly preventable and detectable in its early stages through simple screenings and awareness of risk factors. She emphasized that early detection notably increases recovery rates and enhances life quality.
Ajlouni commended the Jordan Kuwait Bank's backing of the project, noting that the involvement of national institutions in health initiatives exemplifies effective community partnerships, aiding in the implementation of national programs to safeguard the health of Jordanians and bolster disease prevention.
Ramzi Kababreti, the Jordan Kuwait Bank's Aqaba branch manager, reiterated the bank's commitment to social and national responsibility through its support for the project. He articulated the bank's belief in the significance of investing in community health and its continued collaboration with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center on initiatives that benefit the populace and heighten health awareness.
The ceremony featured an educational program, including a lecture by Osama Khatib from the center on the critical nature of colon cancer prevention and early detection, a performance by the Ma'an band, and numerous awareness stations and booths providing health information and guidance to attendees. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center to enhance cancer awareness and engage local communities throughout the Kingdom's governorates, fostering health education and reinforcing prevention and early detection practices through private sector partnerships.
