Cloudy weather, spotty showers forecast today

The Kingdom on Sunday is expected to remain under the impact of unstable weather conditions, so partly cloudy skies will prevail, with a chance of spotty showers in various regions, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

Heavy rain is also forecast, accompanied by thunder at times, while winds will be southwesterly moderate to brisk, the JMD added.

The weather department warned of slippery roads in areas experiencing rain, flash floods in valleys and lowlands, and of low visibility in the Badia areas due to dust.

Toward Monday, mercury levels will rise few degrees, but similar moderate and partly cloudy weather will continue to persist until Tuesday, with a possibility of light and scattered rain in the morning hours over some parts of the country, the forecasters predicted.

The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom on Sunday will range between 19 and 23 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 15C or even 12C in the southern highlands. In the Gulf city of Aqaba, it will be hotter with mercury reaching a high of 30C and a low of 19C.
