Charities and Care Centers Receive Royal Aid on King Abdullah II’s Birthday

Amman: Some 438 charitable associations, centers, and institutions that provide care to orphans, the elderly, and people with disabilities received annual royal aid on Saturday, coinciding with His Majesty King Abdullah II's birthday.

According to Jordan News Agency, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, who also leads the committee overseeing His Majesty's initiatives, conveyed his congratulations to the King on his 64th birthday, wishing him continued health and well-being.

During a Royal Court ceremony attended by Social Development Minister Wafaa Bani Mustafa, Amman Governor Yasser Adwan, and representatives from the beneficiary organizations, Issawi emphasized that the annual royal initiative reflects the values of giving and solidarity that are foundational to Jordanian society. He highlighted King Abdullah II's commitment to empowering charitable institutions to carry out their humanitarian missions, noting that these royal initiatives serve as a crucial link to citizens, particularly those most in need of support and care.

Launched in 2011 in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development, the initiative aims to enable charities to provide sustainable and high-quality services that enhance the quality of life for targeted groups throughout the Kingdom. Issawi remarked on the initiative's significance, not only for its financial contributions but also for its profound social impact. The initiative supports the sustainability of charitable associations, aiding their productive and operational projects, and empowering them as key partners in social development.

Issawi also commended the dedication of those involved in implementing the initiative and distributing the aid responsibly, fairly, and transparently. He reaffirmed the continuation of royal initiatives to promote solidarity and compassion within Jordanian society.

Social Development Minister Wafaa Bani Mustafa highlighted the royal grant as a testament to His Majesty's commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and enhancing services through empowering relevant associations, centers, and institutions across the Kingdom. She noted the initiative's 16-year history of targeting organizations focused on the care of people with disabilities, orphans, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups, including protection and care homes affiliated with the Ministry.

Mustafa explained that the Ministry prioritized areas with developmental needs, supporting 96 associations, centers, and institutions in the northern, central, and southern Badia regions. The Ministry is updating the National Social Protection Strategy for 2025-2033, incorporating programs for inclusive day centers and mobile early intervention units, and initiatives to reintegrate people with disabilities into their families. She stressed the ongoing development of legislation to enhance fairness, transparency, and good governance in the associations sector.

Beneficiary associations expressed gratitude for the annual royal initiative, which significantly supports their sustainability and ability to continue providing essential care and protection services across the Kingdom.
