Cash assistance disbursed to 27,637 underpriviliged households last January-Report

Amman: The Ministry of Social Development issued a report on its key services, as well as National Aid Fund (NAF) and its affiliated associations and institutions, during last January.

In a statement to “Petra” on Sunday, the ministry’s media spokesperson, Ashraf Khreis, said the report featured cash aid for 27,637 households, as 3,457 families benefited from in-kind assistance.

In addition, 9,627 studies were conducted to grant health insurance to underprivileged families, and 136 others were made to exempt treatment expenses, Khreis pointed out.

Meanwhile, a total of 144 requests were submitted to buy housing units for poor families and 77 others asked to get their houses maintained, he noted.

The ministry noted Anti-Vagrancy Department workers arrested 609 beggars, carried out 300 campaigns, and conducted 538 juvenile-related studies, as 148 minors were nabbed during last January, adding that 1,602 studies were conducted to request an exemption from work permit fees.

Khreis indicated that 11 associations were registered, 26 others were dissolved, while 68 others rectified their status and 22 requests were approved to receive foreign funding.

According to the NAF report for last January, 11 new families benefited from the recurring monthly aid program, 391 new households received immediate emergency financial assistance, and 25 new ones benefited from the physical rehabilitation program.
