Cardinal Pizzaballa Emphasizes Importance of Hashemite Custodianship in Jerusalem

Al-husn: Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa highlighted the pivotal role of the Hashemite Custodianship, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, as a steadfast protector and historic guarantee for Jerusalem's holy sites. He underscored the increasing significance of this guardianship amidst the ongoing challenges faced by the Holy City.

According to Jordan News Agency, during his three-day visit to Al-Husn in the Bani Obeid District, Irbid governorate, Cardinal Pizzaballa remarked that Jerusalem and its sacred sites remain a top priority for His Majesty. The events initiated in Jerusalem and continuing in Al-Husn symbolize the unity between the two regions, showcasing a solidarity that confirms Jordan and Jerusalem as an inseparable entity.

Cardinal Pizzaballa expressed that despite current adversities, Jerusalem endures as a symbol of noble values. He described His Majesty King Abdullah II as a beacon of wisdom, illuminating the path of harmony and coexistence. Furthermore, he praised Jordan as a "safe island" and a unique example of fraternity, notably reflected in Al-Husn.

Bani Obeid District Governor Ali Al-Hawamdeh discussed the Hashemite leadership's efforts in promoting moderation through the "Amman Message," which denounces extremism and fosters respect for humanity. He emphasized the Hashemite Custodianship as a cornerstone in protecting the holy sites, asserting Jordan's role as a bastion of Arab identity and justice.

MP Iyad Al-Jabri expressed the pride of Al-Husn residents in Cardinal Pizzaballa's visit, noting it strengthens faith, security, and the spirit of harmony among the region's people, recognized for its authenticity and brotherhood.

Father Wajdi Sahaouneh welcomed the Patriarch, highlighting Al-Husn's model of deep-rooted brotherhood among its Muslim and Christian residents. He emphasized Al-Husn's historical significance as one of the Decapolis cities visited by Jesus Christ and the enduring bonds between Al-Husn and Jerusalem under the noble royal vision.
