Nine teachers who had been placed under “provisional retirement” will be reinstated, according to a Cabinet decision announced by Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Wajih Owais.
Owais told a meeting Wednesday with members of the Lower House Education and Youth Committee that the ministry will send a letter to the Council of Ministers about the nine teachers’ situation.
In this context, the ministry’s Secretary-General for Technical and Administrative Affairs, Nawaf Ajarmeh, said a ministry committee was formed, based on the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, to study the teachers’ issue and work for their return to service.
Ajarmeh announced that the ministry sent a letter to the Prime Minister regarding the 9 teachers’ status to assume their duties, while a study of their colleagues turned on early retirement will be conducted within specific bases, giving priority to 120 teachers whose pension payment has been affected.
