Cabinet approves Jordanian-Egyptian tourism cooperation program

The cabinet has approved the Jordanian-Egyptian executive program for tourism cooperation for the 2022-2024 period, signed between the two countries’ ministries of tourism and antiquities in Cairo.

The program comes to boost bilateral tourism, and in recognition of the importance of tourism in enhancing economy, mutual understanding and good intentions between Jordan and Egypt.

Acting as an implementation of the Jordanian-Egyptian tourism cooperation agreement signed April 1989, the program consists of five categories, top of which are tourism training, sustainable tourism field, tourism legislations and regulations, follow-up committee and the stimulation, promotion and marketing of tourism.

Under the tourism training category, the two sides will exchange expertise, visits, training programs and education curricula of schools, institutes and tourism training centers.

The two sides will exchange best practices in the sustainable tourism field, including innovation and digital transformation, green tourism and biological diversity protection.

They will also share legislations and regulations that govern tourism professions of the two countries, such as qualities of hotels, villages, professional tourism commissions and unions, as well as quality control systems in tourism and hotel fields.

A joint technical committee will be designated to draw a schedule in order to achieve the program’s specified goals.
