BAU, Dutch Lentiz Group sign MoU

Balqa’ Applied University (BAU) on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dutch Lentiz Education Group to cooperate with global entities to achieve sustainable development.

The deal was inked by BAU President Ahmed Ajlouni and Director of Lentiz International Projects Frits Veltkamp.

Ajlouni stressed the importance of the agreement to advance cooperation in various fields, calling for finding the right opportunities to develop educational and training programs that meet the needs of the local and global labor market.

He noted the importance of the relation with the Netherlands, mainly in the water sector, saying that BAU has recently upgraded many technical bachelor’s and technical diploma programs that include the smart farming major, which is a management concept focused on providing the agricultural industry with the infrastructure to leverage advanced technology and thus producing a fine product with the best use of water.

BAU is focused on implementing royal visions to achieve food security, especially after the current circumstances, such as wars and the Covid pandemic, had proven the importance of a state’s food security, he said.

For his part, the Netherlands’ Agricultural Counselor to Egypt and Jordan Melle Leenstra noted the need to benefit from the expertise of both sides and leverage and help reserve available resources, indicating the strong Jordanian-Dutch relation and the various joint projects.
