Amman: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh engaged in discussions with Syrian Minister of Awqaf Mohammad Abu Al-Khair Shukri regarding cooperation in the fields of endowments and religious dawah.
According to Jordan News Agency, Khalaileh, who welcomed Shukri and the Syrian delegation currently visiting the Kingdom, emphasized the strong fraternal ties between Jordan and Syria. He highlighted Jordan's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to broaden the scope of cooperation and integration between the two nations to serve mutual objectives and strengthen the values of unity and affection.
Khalaileh outlined the Ministry of Awqaf's focus areas, which include calling to God, managing mosques, training imams and preachers, fostering religious education, and promoting a moderate Islamic discourse that positively reflects Islam's image. Additionally, he noted the ministry's role in development and economic activities through initiatives like the Zakat Fund, the Hajj Fund, and enhancing endowment revenues.
In response, Shukri expressed Syria's eagerness to maintain and enhance cooperation with Jordan, aiming to exchange expertise. He emphasized Syria's interest in leveraging Jordan's leading experience in endowment management to advance their own sector.
The meeting was attended by notable figures including Grand Mufti of the Kingdom Ahmad Hasanat, Chief Islamic Justice Abdul Hafez Rabtah, and others involved in the religious and endowment sectors. Representatives from various departments, such as the Hajj and Umrah Department and the King Abdullah II Institute for the Training of Imams and Preachers, were also present.
Earlier, the Syrian delegation visited the King Abdullah II Institute for the Training of Imams and Preachers. They received an in-depth briefing from the institute's director, Abdulsattar Qudah, on its mission and training programs, while also touring the institute's facilities and the historic Site of the Companions of the Cave.
