Amman: Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in cooperation with security departments, conducted field crackdowns to identify and seal illegal wells and remove encroachments on water sources in Amman and Zarqa governorates.
According to Jordan News Agency, a statement issued by the ministry on Sunday confirmed that an illegal well was sealed in the Khan al-Zabib area, located south of Amman. Technical teams have completed the necessary procedures and prepared the required reports regarding these incidents.
In a joint campaign, the teams also targeted water pipelines in the Ruseifa district, which were unlawfully supplying properties. These encroachments were successfully removed, and the necessary reports have been filed. The case has been referred to the relevant authorities to ensure that legal procedures are completed.
Additionally, the Jordan Water Authority has recognized the role of citizens in reporting these attacks on water infrastructure. Such acts are considered a "crime punishable by law with imprisonment and large fines."
