Authorities in Mafraq Arrest Man for Attempting to Sell Dead Sheep

Mafraq: Authorities in Mafraq have successfully intercepted an attempt to sell dead sheep in the city, averting a potential public health risk. The incident came to light when a joint public health and safety committee, acting on a tip-off, discovered a vehicle carrying sheep that had been accidentally killed by another vehicle on Sunday evening.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Head of the Health Department at Greater Mafraq Municipality, Saad Jaraydeh, confirmed the swift response by municipal health and market monitoring teams. The Royal Environmental Police were also involved in the operation to ensure public safety and compliance with health regulations.

Authorities managed to locate the vehicle and the driver on 20th Street before any transactions could occur. Upon inspection by the municipal veterinarian, the deceased sheep were declared unfit for human consumption, leading to their disposal as per the regulations. The proactive measures taken by the authorities prevented the potential sale and consumption of the contaminated meat, ensuring community health and safety.
