Amman: The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) announced a moderate state of emergency starting Sunday morning, in anticipation of extreme weather conditions expected to impact the Kingdom.
According to Jordan News Agency, GAM spokesperson Nasser Rahamneh confirmed that field teams are ready to address any issues reported through the Tla'a Al-Ali Emergency Room. Citizens are encouraged to report problems by contacting the center at 102 or 117180.
Rahamneh advised Jordanians to be cautious by avoiding valleys and low-lying areas and to prevent littering, which can block stormwater drainage systems. He also recommended that individuals inspect submersible pumps in basements and shops below street level and advised merchants to take necessary precautions when storing goods in warehouses and basements.
Furthermore, Rahamneh urged contractors and construction project owners to secure building materials properly to prevent them from being swept away, potentially causing blockages in stormwater drainage systems.
