Authorities Declare Moderate State of Emergency Ahead of Expected Weather Conditions

Amman: The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has declared a moderate state of emergency, effective Wednesday morning, in response to the weather system affecting the Kingdom.

According to Jordan News Agency, GAM stated that its field teams are ready to respond to reports received through the Tla'a Al Ali Emergency Room. The municipality urged Jordanians to contact the unified call centre at 102 or 117180 to report any issues that may arise due to the anticipated weather conditions.

GAM has called for the public to exercise caution and avoid valleys and low-lying areas, which are particularly vulnerable during such weather events. Additionally, residents are encouraged to ensure proper waste disposal to prevent blockages in stormwater drainage systems, which could exacerbate flooding.

Property owners are advised to check submersible pumps in basements and shops located below street level. Merchants are also recommended to take precautionary measures when storing goods in warehouses and basements to minimize potential damage.

Contractors and construction project owners are urged to secure building materials to prevent them from being washed away and causing blockages in drainage systems. These proactive steps are aimed at mitigating risks and ensuring public safety during the emergency weather conditions.
