Amman, The Ministry of Local Administration Sunday declared a “medium” and “light” emergency as Jordan witnesses extreme weather in southern regions and central Jordan, respectively, starting afternoon.
According to Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), Jordan is poised to be affected by weather instability with clouds at low altitudes and rain showers in southern and southeasterly regions.
The JMD warned of torrents resulting from heavy rain in the south in valleys and low-lying areas, including Aqaba.
The Ministry directed “crisis management centres” in local municipalities and joint services councils to “immediately” address potential emergencies resulting from the weather instability and inform the Ministry HQ in Amman of developments.
