ASEZA and Abu Dhabi Ports Collaborate on Aqaba Development Projects

Aqaba: Chairman of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Shadi “Ramzi” Majali, emphasized the authority’s commitment to providing services to citizens and investors in accordance with laws that facilitate procedures and decisions to serve the public interest. This initiative aims to position Aqaba as a global logistics, investment, and commercial hub. Majali made these remarks while leading a coordination meeting with Abu Dhabi Ports and MAG Group.

According to Jordan News Agency, Majali expressed ASEZA’s keen interest in the Marsa Zayed project, highlighting its economic significance to Aqaba and the Kingdom. The discussions at the meeting focused on coordinating, organizing, and planning efforts between ASEZA and Abu Dhabi Ports to implement several projects that would contribute to the future development of Aqaba’s infrastructure.

Hussein Safadi, CEO of Aqaba Development Company (ADC), highlighted that the company has signed five agreements with Abu Dhabi Ports. A key agreement involves the establishment of a company to manage and digitize Aqaba’s port system and implement the Marsa Zayed project. Safadi mentioned that the foundation stone for this project was recently laid under the patronage of the Prime Minister. He also noted that the two sides continue their cooperation in managing Aqaba General Port.

Mohammed Nimer, Executive Director of the Marsa Zayed project, stated that the first phase of the project commenced five months ago with the development of Riviera Heights. This phase includes the construction of four towers, 1,300 apartments, and commercial departments and services. Nimer emphasized that the project spans an area of approximately 400,000 square meters and acknowledged ASEZA’s efforts in collaboration with the companies executing the project. He expressed hope that these projects will serve as a model for development and investment in the tourist city of Aqaba.
