Amman: Jordan armed forces intercepted a drone attempting to smuggle narcotics across the country’s western border, a military source said on Monday.
According to Jordan News Agency, the southern military zone, in coordination with security agencies and the anti-narcotics department, detected and downed the drone within its area of responsibility. Border guards tracked the aircraft and engaged it under established rules of engagement, bringing it down inside Jordanian territory. The seized drugs were handed over to the relevant authorities, the source added.
Jordan’s armed forces remain committed to preventing illicit substances from reaching the country and threatening national security, the source said.
