Army Chief Meets European Official to Discuss Defense Cooperation

Amman: Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Hunaiti on Wednesday received Deputy Secretary General for Peace, Security and Defence at the European External Action Service Charles Fries and an accompanying delegation at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces. The meeting reviewed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Jordan Armed Forces and the European Union in a manner that serves shared interests and reflects the depth of the existing partnership in the fields of security, defense, and capacity building. The discussions also covered a number of recent regional and international developments.

According to Jordan News Agency, Hunaiti emphasized the Jordan Armed Forces' commitment to expanding cooperation with international institutions and organizations, aiming to contribute to regional stability efforts and strengthen security frameworks through expertise exchange across various fields. He acknowledged the European External Action Service's support in security and development programs and initiatives, highlighting the partnership with the European Union as a vital component of international cooperation that aids Jordan in addressing security and humanitarian challenges.

Fries expressed appreciation for the advanced capabilities of the Jordan Armed Forces and their role in promoting regional security. He stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation, as well as developing areas of cooperation to enhance stability and advance mutual interests.
