Armouti, South Korean envoy discuss cooperation in human rights

Commissioner General for Human Rights Aladdin Armouti on Wednesday met with South Korea Ambassador to Jordan, Lee Jae-wan, on cooperation prospects in the human rights field between the two countries.

In the meeting, Armouti briefed the Korean envoy on the National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) role in protecting and promoting human rights, by receiving complaints related to any violations that any person residing in the Kingdom may be subjected to, whether a citizen or an expatriate, or through periodic and annual reports that monitor the human rights situation in the country and pinpoint vulnerabilities.

He said that the NCHR also conducts field visits to shelters for the most vulnerable groups, in order to ensure that beneficiaries obtain their rights in a healthy environment.

Armouti highlighted the NCHR’s 2021-2023 strategic plan, which was recently launched in the presence of a number of diplomatic bodies and representatives of civil society.

Ambassador Jae-wan spoke about the human rights situation in his country, expressing his desire to create prospects for cooperation with the NCHR in a way that contributes to serving and promoting human rights.
