Amman:Arab Parliament Speaker Mohamed Yamahi has expressed strong condemnation of what he describes as a "dangerous" escalation by Israeli forces in the occupied Palestinian territories, with a particular focus on the Al Aqsa Mosque and the West Bank.
According to Jordan News Agency, Yamahi emphasized the negative impact of Israeli efforts to alter the historical and legal status quo at these holy sites. He specifically criticized actions aimed at introducing Jewish prayer books and religious rituals into the Al Aqsa Mosque, as well as the increased restrictions and closures affecting Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
Yamahi argued that such actions represent a systematic escalation and a violation of the sanctity of the sites and the rights of the Palestinian people. He believes these measures are intended to forcefully impose a new reality.
Furthermore, Yamahi condemned statements from Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich advocating for military operations in the West Bank, akin to those in the Gaza Strip, and the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority. He warned that these statements could lead to an expansion of military actions, further escalating tensions and destabilizing the region.
