Arab League Urges Immediate Israeli Withdrawal from Southern Lebanon

Beirut: The Arab League has called for a complete Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon by the agreed-upon date. In a statement released on Sunday, the league criticized Israel for its “procrastination” in executing the withdrawal as outlined in a ceasefire agreement, which Israel has agreed to extend until February 18.

According to Jordan News Agency, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, stated that any delay in the withdrawal could lead to a deliberate crisis. He urged the guarantors of the deal to apply sufficient pressure on the Israeli authorities to comply with their commitments.

Aboul Gheit reaffirmed the Arab League’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s firm stance against any Israeli presence in the region after the withdrawal deadline. He warned against any attempts to delay the withdrawal under what he described as “unacceptable pretexts.”
