Damascus: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Monday strongly condemned a deadly terrorist bombing at the Mar Elias Church in the Syrian capital Damascus. In a statement, Aboul Gheit expressed the League’s concern over “this new development, targeting civilians in places of worship, and its negative consequences on Syria’s security and stability.”
According to Jordan News Agency, the Arab Parliament also issued a statement denouncing the bombing as “a criminal act of cowardice and a blatant attack on the sanctity of places of worship and directly targeting the security and safety of civilians in a flagrant violation of humanitarian principles, religious values, and the international humanitarian law.”
