Amman: Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa announced that applications for replacing unsafe heaters have been opened for a two-week period, beginning on Tuesday. This initiative is part of a government-funded effort to replace 15,000 unsafe heaters, following a Cabinet decision to ensure safer heating options for households.
According to Jordan News Agency, the application period may be extended as needed, underlining the government's commitment to protecting households from the risks associated with improper heating. The "Safe Winter" campaign aims to provide safe alternatives, with the distribution of new heaters to eligible families set to commence next Sunday.
Bani Mustafa highlighted that the replacement program is being implemented in full partnership with Tkiyet Um Ali (TUA) and other partner organizations. The process officially began on January 8, with 1,285 unsafe heaters having already been replaced.
In a comprehensive meeting with relevant stakeholders, the ministry directed social development directorates across the Kingdom's governorates to accept replacement requests through their offices, which are situated in over 42 locations. The ministry emphasized that its field and technical teams, in collaboration with Tkiyet Um Ali, are prepared to execute the distribution process at multiple centers as part of the ongoing "Safe Winter" campaign.
