Amman: The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced that personnel from the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) conducted a series of security campaigns over a one-week period targeting drug dealers and individuals wanted for drug trafficking.
According to Jordan News Agency, the drug crackdowns were carried out in the capital Amman, as well as the governorates of Zarqa and Irbid, and the Badia region. Significant progress was made, with several busts leading to the arrest of 23 wanted drug dealers in Amman’s southern areas over the course of several days.
In the east of Amman, a security campaign resulted in the capture of 7 wanted drug dealers. Another operation in the capital’s central areas led to the arrest of 10 individuals involved in drug-related activities.
In Irbid governorate, the AND executed several security operations, capturing 9 suspects who were all wanted for drug-related cases. A comprehensive crackdown in central Zarqa governorate led to the arrest of 6 wanted drug dealers.
Furthermore, 10 wanted drug dealers were apprehended in multiple security campaigns across the Central Badia region. During these operations, authorities seized various quantities of narcotics intended for sale, along with a number of firearms and ammunition. All arrested individuals have been referred to the judiciary.
