AND foils drug smuggling attempt at border crossing

Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel, in coordination with Jordan Customs Department (JCD) and security personnel, foiled an attempt to smuggle two million narcotic pills via a border crossing.

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson on Wednesday said AND personnel were tipped off on a group of people who were attempting to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics. Then, they traced the information and managed to identify the way of smuggling which was supposed to be through a freight vehicle.

And then, in coordination with the JCD and security personnel at the border crossing, they seized the suspected vehicle as soon as it attempted to enter the Kingdom, the PSD spokesperson added.

During the search of the vehicle loaded with fireplaces, more than two million narcotic pills were found hidden inside the fireplaces. the PSD spokesperson explained.

The spokesperson noted that two people involved in the case, including the main suspect, were arrested upon entering the Kingdom from a neighboring country, and the search is still underway for other suspects.
