Amman’s industry exports up by 9% % in 8 months

Exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) increased, during the past 8 months of 2021, by 9% percent, compared to the same period in 2019, driven by the improvement in the performance of most industrial sectors.

The chamber’s industry exports stood at JD3, 257 billion during the January-August period of 2021, compared to JD2,989 billion for the same period in 2019, the ACI’s statistical data showed.

The United States of America, India, Saudi Arabia and Iraq accounted for more than half of the ACI’s exports during the past eight months of 2021, at a value of JD1,914 billion, the chamber’ data revealed.

According to the data, ACI’s industry exports to the United States increased during the January-August period of 2021 by 68%, making it the top importer of the Chamber’s exports, at a value of JD617 million, compared to JD368 million for the same period in 2019.

The Chamber’s exports to India also increased during the past eight months of 2021 by 18%, standing nearly at JD563 million, compared to JD476 million for the same period in 2019, per the data.

The Chamber’s exports to the Iraqi market increased during the eight months of 2021 by a “slight” rate, to record JD349 million, compared to JD347 million for the same period in 2019.

The ACI’s exports during the past eight months 2021 to Saudi Arabia dropped by 1%, declining to JD385 million, compared to about JD389 million during the same period in 2019.

The Chamber’s exports to Syria during the past eight months of 2021 increased by 16% to JD55 million, compared to about JD48 million for the same period in 2019, according to the ACI’s figures.

Moreover, ACI’s industry exports to Turkey also increased during the same period by 36%, reaching JD31 million, compared to JD23 million for 2019.

According to the data, ACI’s exports increased during the January-August period 2021 to many Arab and foreign countries, namely: the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Egypt, Brazil, Algeria, Sudan, Belgium, Libya, Malaysia and the Netherlands, in addition to many other countries.
