Amman Municipality Approves New Community and Environmental Agreements

Amman:The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) committee has approved a series of agreements and regulatory updates during its 14th extraordinary session. Among the key decisions was an amendment to the 2022 Instructions for Occupational Licenses in Residential Areas, which stipulates that streets serving licensed businesses must be no wider than 20 meters, with an exception made for retail pharmacies.

According to Jordan News Agency, the committee also took steps to empower the community by approving a draft agreement with the Fada Al Watan Charitable Society. This agreement aims to provide women with vocational training in tailoring and cosmetology, along with food assistance programs. Additionally, the committee renewed a memorandum of understanding with the Crown Prince Foundation's Nahno platform to enhance youth volunteer initiatives in local communities.

On environmental matters, the committee endorsed a draft partnership with Asrar Al-Ma'rifah for Vocational Education and Training to conduct community awareness campaigns on source-waste sorting. Furthermore, an agreement with the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group was extended to manage waste collection along Dead Sea beaches. This initiative covers the area from the Baptism Site intersection to Al-Zara, aiming to maintain clean public spaces and support regional tourism and investment.
