Amman: The Health and Professional Oversight Department at the Greater Amman Municipality, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), conducted a workshop focusing on the harms of smoking and electronic smoking. This event was part of the "Wellness Ambassadors" program and saw participation from employees and youth volunteers.
According to Jordan News Agency, the workshop highlighted the negative impact of smoking on public health and addressed the importance of oversight and inspection measures in combating smoking. It emphasized the need for increased community awareness to tackle the issue effectively.
Wissam Abu Khalaf, Director of the Department, stressed the importance of strengthening monitoring efforts and raising awareness. He praised the role of youth volunteers in promoting health messages. The municipality also showcased its anti-smoking strategy, which combines regulatory and awareness initiatives to enhance public health, reduce smoking-related diseases, and foster a safe and healthy environment.
