Al-Wehdat officially withdraws from Pro League

Al-Wehdat Sport Club on Tuesday decided to officially withdraw from the Jordanian Pro League, following the Jordan Football Association (JFA) decided to move its match with Al-Faisaly on Friday to Al-Hassan Stadium in Irbid, northern Jordan.

“The decision to withdraw was taken unanimously and the JFA was informed,” the club’s president, Bashar Hawamdeh, told journalists following the urgent meeting of the club’s management on Tuesday.

Hawamdeh said that multiple communications are taking place between the JFA and the club, during which the club’s decision is negotiated, adding that the club was puzzled at the decision, especially since most of the league matches in recent weeks were held on the same stadium in light of the closure of Amman International Stadium for maintenance.

Al-Wehdat’s management met earlier today to discuss the JFA’s decision to move its match with Al-Faisaly from King Abdullah Stadium in the Al-Quweismeh, eastern Amman, to the Al-Hassan Stadium in Irbid.
