Al-Fayez participates in 24th Session of the World Tourism Organization

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al-Fayez, on Thursday, took part at the 24th Session of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly currently convened in Madrid.

The four-day gathering will bring together 1,000 participants including 84 ministers and deputy tourism ministers and representatives from 125 countries, which aims to restart and lead the sustainable recovery of the sector badly hit by the pandemic.

Addressing the global gathering, Al-Fayez said that, “The COVID-19 pandemic, which shook the whole world, was the biggest challenge facing the tourism sector and various other sectors, pointing out that the interruption of the arrival of foreign tourists to Jordan due to the pandemic caused great damage to the tourism sector”.

He indicated that Jordan has worked in the past decade to develop rural tourism in partnership with women and young people from local communities, stressing that the growth and development of this type of tourism contributes to increasing tourist attractions.
