Tashkent: Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez conveyed a verbal message from His Majesty King Abdullah II to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The message included His Majesty's greetings and well-wishes for further progress and prosperity for Uzbekistan and its people under President Mirziyoyev's leadership.
According to Jordan News Agency, the message delivered by Al-Fayez emphasized the strong friendship between Jordan and Uzbekistan, highlighting a commitment to continue strengthening these ties across various fields. The communication also underscored the importance of ongoing coordination and consultation on advancing bilateral relations and addressing mutual interests.
During the meeting, President Mirziyoyev expressed his appreciation and respect for King Abdullah II, commending the robust relations between the two nations and their aligned perspectives on issues of mutual concern. The Uzbek president extended his greetings to the King and expressed wishes for Jordan's continued progress, praising the high level of bilateral relations achieved.
Al-Fayez acknowledged the solid foundation of Jordanian-Uzbek relations, which are rooted in mutual respect and cooperation, as noted in a Senate statement. He stated that his visit, along with the accompanying delegation, aimed to build on the achievements of the King's previous state visit to Uzbekistan. This visit seeks to explore further opportunities for economic, investment, and parliamentary collaboration to benefit both countries.
The discussions also highlighted Uzbekistan's support for the King's peace efforts in the Middle East and the importance of the Hashemite custodianship over holy sites in Jerusalem. The meeting reinforced the significance of implementing agreements from the summit between King Abdullah II and President Mirziyoyev in Samarkand, focusing on enhancing partnership relations.
Furthermore, the discussions emphasized the activation of parliamentary friendship groups in both countries to execute concluded agreements and enhance cooperation in trade, industry, tourism, and cultural exchanges. The necessity of convening the first meeting of the Jordanian-Uzbek Joint Committee and the Business Forum in Tashkent this year was also underlined.
The meeting, attended by several Jordanian senators and officials, also included exchanges on current international and regional issues.
