Ajloun National Park Project Reaches 60% Completion in First Phase

Ajloun: The Ajloun National Park project has reached 60% completion in its first phase since construction began at the end of last year, Chairman of the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group (JFDZ) Sakher Al-Ajlouni said, stressing that the project represents a key pillar for sustainable development in Ajloun Governorate and its surroundings.

According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Ajlouni explained that the project is expected to stimulate both local and foreign investment by offering diverse opportunities in tourism, eco-tourism, restaurants, and recreational services. He noted that its components include a four-star hotel, a boutique hotel, an eco-lodge, and a designated camping area for university and school students. It also features a family park with children's playgrounds, an adventure and recreational zone, an outdoor cinema, and multi-purpose halls, opening the door for the private sector to engage in meaningful development partnerships that serve the region.

For her part, Director General of Development Zones, Reem Sahawneh, said that completed works so far include infrastructure development, excavation works, parking facilities, administrative buildings, and road access leading to the site, within the project's total area of approximately 700 dunums. She added that the project is being implemented in two phases, with the first phase covering 140 dunums and the second phase 150 dunums within the initial development section, while the remaining areas will be developed in later stages. She highlighted that the park is located in one of Jordan's most beautiful natural regions, characterized by dense forests and scenic highlands, making it an ideal year-round destination for eco and recreational tourism.

Sahawneh further noted that the project will integrate with the Ajloun cable car and other tourism facilities in the region, enhancing the governorate's appeal as a comprehensive tourism destination. The project is expected to generate more than 200 direct jobs for residents of Ajloun, in addition to hundreds of indirect employment opportunities during both construction and operational phases.
