Amman: Chairman of Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) and Minister of Labor Dr. Khaled Bakkar, alongside the General Manager of MID Contracting Company Ltd., Ala’a Baha’a Al-Masri, have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at implementing training programs to qualify and employ 700 Jordanians in the contracting and construction sector.
According to Jordan News Agency, Bakkar stated that the agreement is in response to the labor market’s need for specialized technical workers in the contracting sector, which contributes to economic growth and the creation of job opportunities. He emphasized the importance of partnerships with the private sector in achieving development and reducing unemployment rates. Empowering Jordanian youth with necessary skills is a key pillar of the Economic Modernization Vision and a national priority, noted the minister.
VTC Director General, Ahmed Gharaibeh, highlighted that the corporation continues to develop partnerships with companies across various sectors to provide training programs that align with modern technological and professional advancements. Gharaibeh added that this agreement exemplifies the VTC’s commitment to linking training with direct employment opportunities.
Al-Masri expressed that the company views this partnership as an investment in national human capital, aiming to train Jordanian youth to high standards, which would enhance the quality and competitiveness of the construction sector both locally and regionally.
The agreement includes specialized vocational training programs designed to cover a range of skills required in the contracting sector, such as public safety and work site management. The training will be conducted in two phases: a theoretical stage lasting 6-8 weeks, followed by practical training at the work sites of MID Contracting Company Ltd., to better prepare trainees for the job market.
Additionally, the VTC will provide equipped training centers in Balqa and Zarqa governorates, along with trainers and logistical services. MID Contracting Company Ltd. will supply the necessary raw materials, practical training sites, and equipment, and commit to employing trainees who successfully complete the program based on its operational needs both inside and outside Jordan.
