The number of certificates of origin issued by the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) in the first ten months of 2021 to export goods went up by 14.6 percent from 27,657 to 31,704 certificates in the same period of 2020, according to ACC statistics.
In a statement released on Sunday, the ACC said that despite the increase in the number of issued certificates, the value of exports during the January-October period of this year amounted to JD600 million, compared with JD732 million in the same period last year, marking an estimated drop of 18.1 percent.
The ACC noted that a total of 8,793 certificates were issued for shipments exported to Saudi Arabia, followed by the UAE (4,200), Oman (1,977), Iraq (1,272) and Egypt with 989 certificates.
The majority of exports in the first ten-month of 2021 went to Iraq, which accounted for JD171 million, followed by Saudi Arabia JD64 million, Egypt JD50 million, the UAE with JD48 million and Oman with JD46 million.
With regard to foreign product exports “re-exports”, the chamber said they amounted to about JD308 million, while agricultural products exports reached JD135 million, industrial products exports reached JD90 million, and Arab products hit JD28 million.
The ACC issues certificates of origin for agricultural and animal products, raw Jordanian natural resources, foreign goods that are re-exported, and for foreign goods purchased from the local market under specific conditions.
