Government Declares Zero Tolerance for Attacks on Security Forces

Amman:The government has declared a zero-tolerance policy regarding attacks on security personnel, emphasizing that such acts are an assault on state authority and the rule of law.

According to Jordan News Agency, Mohammad Momani, the Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson, made these remarks following a stabbing incident in Amman. The attack resulted in the death of Corporal Jawad Salayta while he was on duty. Another officer was injured during the arrest of the assailant but is reported to be in stable condition, as confirmed by the Public Security Directorate.

Momani emphasized that national security and stability are of utmost importance, and the government will not tolerate any actions targeting Jordan and its citizens. He assured that the state and its institutions are well-equipped to protect the populace and enforce the law against violators effectively.

Prime Minister Jafar Hassan is actively overseeing the security services' response to the attack, which preliminary investigations suggest was a terrorist act. The prime minister has directed the relevant authorities to swiftly uncover the circumstances and motives of the attack and to take appropriate legal actions against those involved.

In honor of Corporal Salayta, Momani highlighted the longstanding tradition of sacrifice among Jordan's military and security forces, who have dedicated their lives to the service of the nation. He extended condolences to the family and colleagues of the fallen officer and expressed wishes for a quick recovery for the injured officer. Momani also prayed for divine mercy for the deceased and for the continued security and stability of Jordan.
