Amman:Scattered rain showers, some heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected across Jordan on Wednesday, maintaining a risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, especially as rainfall persists in the northeastern Badia into the evening.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Jordan Meteorological Department has predicted a slight drop in temperatures below seasonal averages, resulting in partly cloudy to overcast skies and intermittent rainfall in various regions of the Kingdom.
Some regions may experience brief periods of heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning, potentially leading to flash floods in susceptible areas. Rainfall is anticipated to gradually decrease during the evening, though showers will continue in the northeastern Badia, where heavy downpours and thunderstorms might cause flooding.
Moderate westerly winds are expected, becoming active at intervals. The department has also warned of reduced visibility due to fog over high mountain areas, plains, and Badia, with dust potentially affecting visibility in desert regions.
Motorists are advised to be cautious of slippery roads in rain-affected areas, and the public is urged to avoid valleys and low-lying areas, refraining from crossing flooded roads or accumulated rainwater. Expected temperatures are 23°C in East Amman, 22°C in West Amman, and highs of 21°C in the northern highlands, among other regions.
A further slight temperature drop is anticipated on Thursday, creating pleasant conditions in most areas and moderate weather in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Clouds at varying altitudes will appear across northern and central Jordan, with southwesterly winds occasionally intensifying, especially in the Badia.
By Friday, temperatures will decrease further, with pleasant weather persisting across most regions and moderate conditions in low-lying areas. Light showers are possible in the early morning in northern Jordan and parts of the west-central regions, accompanied by moderate westerly winds that may become active at times.
