Zarqa Free Zone Achieves Significant Growth in Regional Logistics Sector

Zarqa:The Zarqa Free Zone has shown remarkable resilience and growth, maintaining its crucial role as a hub for regional transit flows, re-export operations, and cross-border merchandise trade. This growth has persisted despite facing various regional macroeconomic challenges.

According to Jordan News Agency, statistical data from the Jordan Customs Department reveals that the total value of freight handled through the Zarqa Free Zone reached 983 million JOD by the end of September 2026. This represents a 24 percent increase compared to the 794 million JOD registered in the same period in 2025.

The zone witnessed a 36 percent growth in international transit departures during the first nine months of 2026, totaling 324 million JOD, up from 238 million JOD in the third quarter of 2025. Additionally, shipments intended for the domestic market experienced a 4 percent increase in value, rising to 192 million JOD from the previous year's 185 million JOD.

Customs logistics activities were robust, with 48,856 declarations completed across vehicle and general cargo categories at the Zarqa Free Zone Customs over the nine-month period. The customs telemetry tracked 31,841 inbound loaded trucks entering the zone and 18,217 outbound loaded units dispatched to regional destinations under transit and re-export procedures.

Daifallah Abu Aqueleh, President of the Clearance and Transport Companies Association, highlighted the zone's evolution into an integrated logistics platform that optimizes regional trade flows and supply-chain cost efficiency. The zone facilitates inventory management for Gulf exporters, serves as a consolidation point for Iraqi market demands, and supports trade into Syria following the reopening of the Jaber-Nassib corridor. It offers incentives like full foreign capital ownership, tax exemptions, and a single-window administrative framework.

Odeh Ramahi, President of the Arab Federation for Freight Forwarders, emphasized the zone's role in Jordan's multimodal transport network, linking land transport, bonded warehousing, and customs processing with maritime channels through the Port of Aqaba. This integration enhances the national supply chain and solidifies Jordan's position as a regional trade gateway.

Established in 1983, the Zarqa Free Zone is one of the region's largest commercial and industrial enclaves, utilizing modern logistics infrastructure to attract regional trade and foreign investment.
