Amman:Abdali Hospital has discharged 13-year-old Mohammad al-Hajjar from Gaza in good health following nine months of intensive treatment for severe injuries to his chest and digestive tract.
According to Jordan News Agency, Mohammad al-Hajjar was one of the casualties from the Gaza Strip and arrived at the hospital with significant injuries, including a severe laceration of the right lung and ribs. Consultant Mohammad Alassaf stated that the boy also suffered from a serious esophageal injury, leading to food leakage into the chest cavity, as well as tears and perforations in the intestines, duodenum, and colon.
The injuries resulted in severe infections, sepsis, and acute malnutrition, leaving the boy weighing just 20 kilograms. The medical team at Abdali Hospital carried out multiple surgeries and endoscopic procedures, placed esophageal stents, and provided medication along with intensive nutritional support. The team successfully closed the esophageal openings and stopped the leakage, enabling Mohammad to eat normally and resume his usual activities.
Dr. Alassaf acknowledged the hospital's pride in the positive outcome, crediting the competence of the doctors and the combined efforts of the hospital staff. He also commended the nursing teams, supporting medical staff, and administration for their dedication throughout the boy's treatment and recovery.
Furthermore, the hospital expressed gratitude to international organizations for coordinating Mohammad's medical evacuation from Gaza, supporting him and his family during their time in Jordan, and covering the full cost of his treatment.
