Youth as Key Players in the Digital Landscape Highlighted at Media Forum

Amman:Government Communication Minister and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani emphasized the influential role of young people in shaping the digital space during the "Media and Youth Forum." This event is part of the "Future of Media and Communication" conference, organized by the Center for Defending Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ).

According to Jordan News Agency, Momani stated that youth are now crucial partners in digital content creation and public discourse. He stressed the social responsibility they hold to verify and assess the accuracy of information before sharing it, to combat misinformation that could threaten societal, national, and economic security.

Momani highlighted the importance of "digital citizenship," urging young people to engage responsibly with digital content. He praised Jordanian youth for their responsible online behavior and their contributions to their communities through fact-checking and information verification.

He noted Jordan's progress in media and information literacy, which helps the society navigate misinformation. Momani affirmed that official institutions are dedicated to enhancing young people's digital engagement skills, expressing confidence in their ability to adapt to digital advancements.

Momani also commended Jordanian media professionals abroad for their achievements and contributions, as well as the CDFJ for organizing the forum. He stressed the importance of discussions on youth's role in media and digital spaces.

CDFJ Director Nidal Mansour discussed generational shifts in media engagement and the impact of modern technology on communication. He called for increased media literacy to combat the spread of misinformation and highlighted the need for collaboration across generations in media expertise.

The Media and Youth Forum features discussions on the current and future state of youth in digital media, patterns of digital platform use, and the skills needed for content creation in an evolving media landscape.
