Anti-Narcotics Department Arrests 31 in Nationwide Drug Raids

Aqaba:The Anti-Narcotics Department has intensified its operations across the Kingdom, arresting 31 suspects involved in 13 drug-related cases over the past few days, according to a spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD).

According to Jordan News Agency, significant quantities of narcotics were confiscated during these operations. One of the major cases involved a suspect in Aqaba who was allegedly smuggling drugs into the Kingdom by boat. Coordinating with security agencies and Jordan Customs, officers arrested the suspect and seized 132 slabs of hashish onboard. An accomplice was also referred for arrest.

In another incident in Aqaba, officers apprehended two drug dealers transporting narcotics, finding 44 slabs of hashish and marijuana in their vehicle. In Madaba Governorate, a team arrested five suspects who were using tents to store and trade narcotics, seizing 43 slabs of hashish. Further investigations led to the discovery of 24 slabs of hashish and two firearms hidden in a mountainous area.

In western Balqa, an armed, high-risk suspect was arrested, found with 200 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a slab of hashish, and two firearms. In Al-Ruwaished District, a coordinated operation led to the arrest of three suspects. The first had 5,000 narcotic pills and four slabs of hashish, while the second possessed 150 grams of crystal methamphetamine. The third was wanted for 13 drug trafficking offenses.

In the Northern Badia, a suspect admitted to storing drugs in the desert, leading officers to seize 5 kilograms of amphetamine and five slabs of hashish. In Irbid Governorate, a foreign national and his criminal network were dismantled, resulting in the arrest of nine individuals and the seizure of crystal methamphetamine prepared for distribution.

Additional raids in the Southern Jordan Valley, Central Badia, and areas west of Amman resulted in the seizure of 24, 6, and 6 slabs of hashish respectively. In Irbid, four dealers were caught with 2,200 narcotic pills and a slab of hashish. Finally, a dealer in Al-Rusayfah District was arrested with 9,000 narcotic pills, and another case in the Central Badia led to the seizure of 12,000 narcotic pills from a dealer.
