AHU Students Triumph at PixelSite Competition with ‘Rihlati’ Platform

Amman:A team from Al-Hussein Bin Talal University's Faculty of Information Technology has secured first place in the PixelSite competition hosted by Isra University. The competition saw participation from over 109 teams from various Jordanian universities.

According to Jordan News Agency, the victorious team included students Sukaina Al-Habahbeh, Batool Abu Jwaid, Muhanad Abu Hilalah, and Malik Al-Howeitat. They progressed through the competition stages, surpassing the initial 32 teams, then achieving the highest score among the top 12, before claiming the top position in the final round.

Their winning project, "Rihlati," is a digital platform designed to bolster Jordan's tourism and investment sectors. It provides personalized travel itineraries to help tourists explore lesser-known destinations in Jordan, catering to individual preferences and requirements.

Additionally, "Rihlati" includes a portal for tourism investors, using data analytics and matching algorithms to link entrepreneurs with suitable investment opportunities and target tourist demographics. The platform's comprehensive administrative dashboard manages content, user interactions, and analytics, and was developed using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Firebase.

AHU President Atef Al-Kharabsheh commended the students for their achievement, highlighting their ability to translate academic learning into innovative technology solutions. He affirmed the university's ongoing support for student innovation and participation in technical competitions.

Dean Omar Ghaleb Al-Shawawreh of the Faculty of Information Technology expressed pride in the team's success, noting that their first-place finish at PixelSite showcases the high level of technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills present at the university on both local and regional stages.
