Political Modernization in Jordan Focuses on Youth Engagement

Amman:Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul-Monem Al-Odat announced that Jordan is advancing its political modernization efforts, which are designed to increase youth involvement in decision-making processes.

According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Odat emphasized during a seminar organized by the Knights of Change Association that young people are crucial to the success of these modernization initiatives. The seminar, held at the Department of National Library, focused on the role of Jordanian youth in political development.

The minister highlighted that the Political Parties Law and the Election Law have created a progressive framework for political activity, encouraging the establishment of a parliament grounded in political parties, platforms, and visions that accurately reflect the priorities and aspirations of citizens.

Al-Odat noted that political platforms serve as an effective means to convert citizens' concerns into actionable programs, thereby enhancing youth presence in public life and expanding political participation. This approach is seen as critical to achieving the goals of the modernization process.

Senator Amjad Al-Jumeian, who also spoke at the seminar, stressed that for political development to be realized, youth must be empowered to transform ideas into policies and legislation. He advocated for the creation of a permanent institutional bridge between youth and state institutions to involve them as partners in shaping political development.

Abdul-Fattah Al-Hayek, President of the Knights of Change Association, stated that civil society organizations play an essential role in the nation's progress by preparing the youth, fostering political awareness, and promoting a culture of dialogue and participation. He acknowledged the King's vision of placing youth at the center of Jordan's state project, recognizing them as a vital resource for the country's future.

Al-Hayek also mentioned the Association's initiatives supporting the Palestinian cause and youth-focused activities, including the launch of the "Entrepreneurial Nashama in Leadership Roles" program earlier this year.
