Israeli Curriculum Adoption in East Jerusalem Affects 45,000 Palestinian Students

Jerusalem:Approximately 45,000 Palestinian students in East Jerusalem are now following an Israeli curriculum, as revealed in a report by the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA). The report, titled "Education in Jerusalem: Between Distortion, Judaization, and Israelization," examines the impact of Israeli policies on the education sector in the city.

According to Jordan News Agency, the report highlights several Israeli policies aimed at altering the educational landscape in Jerusalem. These include school and university raids, closures, student and teacher arrests, and restrictions on the development of educational facilities. The RCJA emphasizes that these measures seek to distort curricula and impose Israeli educational programs that promote a Zionist narrative, thereby eroding the Arab-Palestinian identity of the city.

The RCJA report notes that of the 120,000 Palestinian students in East Jerusalem, about 45,000 are subjected to these Israeli educational programs. The committee's objective is to expose these educational schemes and raise awareness among international organizations about the situation.

The report also features contributions from Dr. Nafez Asileh and Dr. Ali Abu Ras, who are specialists in Jerusalem's education and culture sectors. The RCJA asserts that safeguarding education in Jerusalem is essential for preserving Palestinian identity, supporting resilience, and ensuring that future generations retain their history and culture.

The committee remains committed to prioritizing education and raising awareness in line with the Hashemite leadership's directives, which have historical custodianship over Jerusalem's holy sites. The RCJA affirms Jordan's unwavering support for the Palestinian people in maintaining their presence and identity in Jerusalem and Palestine, regardless of the sacrifices required.
