Jordan-EU Investment Conference to Boost Tech Sector Opportunities

Amman:Jordan's technology industry is gearing up for the Jordan-EU Investment Conference in November, which is seen as a crucial opportunity to attract European capital and technology while providing Jordanian companies with enhanced access to European and regional markets.

According to Jordan News Agency, the conference will be held under the Jordan-EU Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership established in early 2025. It aims to highlight investment opportunities in the digital economy alongside other sectors such as renewable energy, clean technology, and infrastructure. The partnership was marked by the signing of an agreement in Brussels, witnessed by King Abdullah II and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The EU committed to a £3 billion financial package for Jordan over 2025-2027 to support these objectives.

Haitham Rawajbeh, CEO of Falcon Soft, emphasized the event's potential not only for investment but also for technology transfer and joint ventures. He suggested that Jordan could serve as a regional base for software development and other IT services, attracting European companies to establish research centers focusing on areas like artificial intelligence and data analytics.

Rawajbeh highlighted further investment opportunities in data centers, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity operations, which could serve both Jordan and neighboring markets. He also proposed sectors such as digital payments and health and education technology as ripe for development, suggesting a joint Jordanian-European technology fund to support startups with expansion potential.

Fadi Qutaishat, chairman of the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan, noted that prioritizing the digital economy at the conference underscores the sector's investment potential. He linked the event to the "Jordan: A Hub for Technology" strategy, which seeks to attract international tech firms and strengthen Jordan's role in exporting digital services.

Qutaishat pointed out that green energy and financial technology are areas for possible collaboration between Jordanian and European companies. He also stressed the importance of venture capital from Europe to help Jordanian startups expand into new markets.

Nour Khrais, founder and CEO of Maysalward, identified the regional video game industry as another promising area for cooperation between Jordan and Europe. He highlighted Jordan's talent in game development and the potential for joint product development and intellectual property creation, leveraging European technology and networks.
