Aqaba:NaiTel, the telecommunications division of Aqaba Digital Hub (ADH), has entered into a strategic partnership with MEDUSA Submarine Cable System to boost international connectivity linking Jordan, Europe, and North Africa.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement involves connecting to MEDUSA via the Coral Bridge, allowing Aqaba Digital Hub to offer a new access point to the MEDUSA network. This will establish a direct connectivity route from Aqaba to Europe through MEDUSA's landings, extending into the broader Middle East.
As part of the partnership, MEDUSA will set up colocation capacity at Aqaba Digital Hub, which is an open-access, carrier-neutral digital infrastructure facility serving as an international connectivity gateway into Jordan. This setup will enable operators and customers at Aqaba Digital Hub to utilize MEDUSA's high-capacity submarine network for direct access to Europe, while providing an open-access portal for international connectivity into Jordan and the wider Middle East.
MEDUSA is working on a new-generation submarine cable system connecting Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Under the agreement, MEDUSA's submarine infrastructure will be integrated with NaiTel's regional and international connectivity network, as well as ADH's carrier-neutral data center and open-access cable landing station in Aqaba.
Eyad Abu Khorma, Founder and CEO of Aqaba Digital Hub, expressed that the collaboration with MEDUSA broadens the international connectivity ecosystem in Aqaba, reinforcing connections between Europe, North Africa, Jordan, and the wider Middle East. He highlighted Jordan's strategic position as a bridge between the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
Norman Albi, CEO of MEDUSA Submarine Cable System, stated that partnering with NaiTel and Aqaba Digital Hub is a crucial step in expanding MEDUSA's Mediterranean connectivity into Jordan and the Middle East. By integrating MEDUSA's submarine network with NaiTel and ADH's infrastructure in Aqaba, new opportunities will arise for carriers, cloud providers, digital platforms, and enterprises to access more diversified and resilient international routes. Albi emphasized the importance of strengthening connectivity between Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East to support the region's burgeoning digital economy.
