Zarqa:The Zarqa Awqaf Directorate has initiated a program focusing on intellectual security for the youth, in collaboration with the Community Peace Center at the Preventive Security Directorate. This initiative was introduced during a dialogue session that included imams, preachers, religious guides, and Quran center supervisors.
According to Jordan News Agency, First Lieutenant Osayd Amid Al-Khalidi from the Community Peace Center led the session, which tackled the theme "Extremist Ideology Realities and Challenges on the Jordanian Scene." The discussion centered on the intellectual challenges faced by youth, strategies to counteract extremist ideologies, and the importance of fostering moderation and a centrist approach. The impact of the digital world and electronic games on children was also explored.
Ahmad Al-Harahsheh, Director of the Awqaf Directorate, emphasized the crucial role of national efforts in enhancing intellectual security and the responsibility of religious institutions in combating extremist views and hate speech. He highlighted the need for imams and religious leaders to deliver balanced messages and adapt awareness programs to the evolving intellectual and social landscape.
The session also stressed the importance of religious institutions in bolstering young people's ability to recognize and reject extremist rhetoric, while promoting dialogue and coexistence. The Community Peace Center's involvement is part of its broader mission to enhance community peace and intellectual resilience through partnerships with entities like the Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, and the Zarqa Awqaf Directorate.
