Amman:The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs has condemned the ongoing incursions by extremist settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, including events earlier today, along with what it describes as provocative acts and inflammatory statements by extremist Israeli officials.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry's spokesperson Fuad Majali expressed Jordan's "absolute rejection and strong" condemnation of the repeated incursions and accompanying provocative practices at the holy site.
Majali described these actions as a blatant violation of international law and humanitarian law, marking an attempt to impose new realities at the compound by trying to divide it temporally and spatially. He emphasized that Israel does not have sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its holy sites.
He warned of the consequences of continued violations, provocations, and inflammatory statements, urging the international community to compel Israel to halt these practices and violations against Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. Majali also called for an end to illegal measures in the occupied West Bank and incitement against the Palestinian people.
Majali reiterated that Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, in its entire 144-dunum area, is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims. He added that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, affiliated with Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, is the legally authorized body with exclusive jurisdiction over the administration of all affairs related to the site, including regulating access.
