Amman:Qatari intellectual Mohammed Al-Misfer praised His Majesty King Abdullah II's address to the United Nations General Assembly, describing it as strong and candid. The speech struck a chord across the Arab world, particularly due to its clear stance on developments in Palestine and the region.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Misfer shared these views at a seminar titled "Jordan in the Second Millennium A Model of a Stable State," part of the Amman International Book Fair. He emphasized that the address deserved serious consideration by Arab intellectual and political elites and should be translated into practical positions and action plans.
Al-Misfer called for stronger Arab coordination to tackle shared challenges, highlighting Jordan as a model of stability and a key pillar of joint Arab action. Despite its limited resources, Jordan has managed to overcome the weight of regional crises.
He noted that regional developments, especially in Syria and efforts to rebuild the country, provide Jordan with an opportunity to reclaim its historic role as a vital trade and transport bridge linking the Gulf, the Levant, Turkiye, and Europe. This role could also help strengthen Arab economic and political integration.
Al-Misfer assessed that the Arab world holds demographic, economic, and military advantages, along with substantial sovereign wealth funds. However, he pointed out that there is a gap in organization, political will, and resource deployment within a comprehensive strategic vision.
He concluded that building Arab power requires joint projects that link the economy with education, scientific research, technology, and defense. Facilitating the movement of capital and labor is also crucial to strengthening comprehensive Arab national security.
